Welcome to The Purple Dwarf Rabbitry! I'm Heather Pickens, and what started in 1985 as an FFA project with a pair of Netherland Dwarfs has turned into a lifetime obsession for me. My very first show was the Del Mar Fair in 1986, and I won Reserve in Show (Youth) with a Siamese Smoke Pearl Buck. I didn't even know what that meant! Took me 22 years, but I finally won my first BEST IN SHOW (Open) on Sept 27, 2008 with a beautiful Siamese Sable doe named Spicy. Our rabbitry lines come mostly from Picards (Karen Picard, CA), Darkside (Rick Smith, CA), Harter (Monica Harter, OH) and our own lines (TPD) that we've worked for years. Our rabbitry is registered with the ARBA, #X603, and I am in the process of studying for my registrar's exam. We are members of the ARBA, American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club, Arizona State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association, and Desert Gems Netherland Dwarf Club. Our only show rabbits are Netherland Dwarfs, and we have the following colors:REW Black Chestnut Siamese Smoke Pearl Siamese Sable Sable Marten Black/Blue Otter Chinchilla Black Silver Marten Himilayan and Brokens We also have a breeding pair of Dutch rabbits. They are purebred, but we do not show them. Their only purpose is to provide pet bunnies, and a foster mom if I need it.
